Ants
What temperature do ants die?
There is no thermostat number that kills every ant in a yard. Foragers die on hot pavement; the queen in a Red imported fire ant mound or a Carpenter ant void does not. Boiling water on a mound can scald people and pets and often misses deep brood. Use a labeled bait while they forage, then follow the species page.
Hot cars and sidewalks
People see dead foragers on asphalt in July and think the colony died. The nest is still in the lawn or the wall. Indoor Odorous house ant live in a heated building. A cold snap outdoors does not clear a kitchen trail.
Do not invent a home heat protocol
Steam machines and space heaters used as unregistered pesticides are how walls get ruined and people get burned. If a product is a pesticide, the EPA label is the law. Ant bait is the usual indoor tool after you wipe the trail and store food.
