How to get rid of Pocket gophers

Pocket gophers are solitary fossorial rodents with fur-lined cheek pouches. They push crescent mounds, not mole’s volcano ridges. They eat roots from below — including garden plants and, uncomfortably, buried cables in some sites. Control that works is locating the main tunnel and using traps designed for gophers, or labeled burrow baits where legal, after you confirm it is not a mole. How to identify Pocket gopher
- Fan-shaped or crescent soil mounds, plugged holes.
- Small eyes, large claws, external fur-lined pockets.
