Myths and DIY
Does cedar repel moths?
Cedar scent fades. Clothes moth larvae eat keratin in dirty wool. A block of cedar in an open closet does not replace washing, sealing, and inspecting. A tight chest with fresh cedar can help as a storage container, not as a fog for the whole house. Carpet beetles make similar holes — ID the insect.
Clean first
Larvae need food stains and humidity. Vacuum the closet edge, store clean garments, and use pheromone traps as monitors. That is IPM. A scented hanger is a gift-shop item.
