Rodents
Can rats climb trees?
Yes. Roof rat are the tree rats of the US South and West Coast. Palms, citrus, and fence lines are the commute. Norway rat will climb a low limb to a porch, but they are not the canopy specialist. Cut the bridge to the roof, screen the vents, and trap overhead.
The 6-to-8-foot trim
A limb on a shingle is a gangplank. Trim where the tree is yours to trim. Overhead utility lines still exist; you cannot prune the power company. You can still screen the soffit they land on.
