Cockroaches
Can cockroaches fly?
German cockroach can technically move their wings but kitchen infestations spread by walking through cracks, groceries, and appliances — not by flying across the room. Larger American cockroach and Smokybrown cockroach adults do fly or glide, especially to lights. Identify the species before you fog a porch.
Flight is not the infestation
A German cockroach job is harborage in a warm kitchen: the refrigerator motor, the stove kickplate, a paper bag of onions. Wings are a trivia answer. Gel bait in the crack plus sanitation is the method. See Cockroach baiting and IGRs.
A flying roach at a southern porch light is often an outdoor species commuting. Treat treeholes, gutters, and attic exclusion, not a weekly kitchen fogger.
