Bed bugs and biting pests
Can fleas live in carpet?
Yes. Cat flea eggs fall off the host into carpet, rugs, and upholstery. Larvae live there. If you only treat the cat and skip the floor, you get a new wave in about two weeks. Vacuum daily through the hatch, wash pet beds hot, and use products labeled for the pet and for the premises — separately, as the labels say. Do not fog a living room.
The 2-week surprise
Pupae wait. A vacuum and a labeled IGR on the floor, plus a veterinarian’s plan for the animal, is a program. Bleach on a carpet is a damaged carpet, not a flea protocol.
