Bed bugs and biting pests

Will a dryer kill bed bugs?

Yes, for items that can go in a dryer: high heat for 30 minutes or more is a widely taught way to kill Bed bug adults and eggs on fabric. Wash first if the item allows, then dry hot. The dryer does not reach the mattress seam you left behind. Encase, inspect, and treat harborages.

What not to melt

Vinyl, some elastic, and stuffed toys may not survive. Those items need another method or disposal. Do not run a dryer as an unlisted pesticide for pillows full of foam if the maker forbids high heat — you will own a fire and still have bugs in the baseboard.
