Do bats in the attic mean rabies?
A Bat (structure occupancy) colony in an attic does not mean every animal has rabies. Any bat found in a room with a sleeping person, a child, or a pet — especially if you cannot rule out a bite — is a medical and public-health question, not a DIY catch. Do not handle with bare hands. Exclusion is seasonal and legal. Read CDC rabies pages and call local health if there was possible contact.
Do not wait until August to evict pups
Maternity season is why one-way doors have a calendar. Sealing a live colony into a soffit is how they come through a light fixture. A licensed bat-exclusion outfit beats foam-in-a-panic.

The question is only the field note. Control sequence, legal notes, and identification live on the species article.
