Can opossums get in a pet door?
A standard pet door is an invitation. Virginia opossum, Raccoon, and Striped skunk use them for cat food. Electronic doors keyed to a collar help. Night lockout helps more. An opossum that looks dead may be still alive — do not handle it. They are not a typical rabies reservoir the way raccoons are, but a bite is still a clinician’s call.
